The Ethnographic Museum of Rwanda, located in Huye District in Southern Rwanda (formerly known as Butare). The one of the eight museums managed by the Rwanda Cultural Heritage Academy. It is an institution dedicated to preserving, showcasing, and interpreting the diverse traditions, practices, and ways of daily life of past African communities (pre-colonial Rwanda way of living) it serves as a home of cultural preservation, housing extensive collections that celebrate the rich history, heritage and traditions of Rwanda. Through its displays of artifacts, tools, traditional clothing, and art, the museum provides invaluable insights into the everyday lives and cultural practices of Rwandan communities, past and present in its 7 galleries of exhibition. It plays a vital role in educating visitors, locals and foreigners about the country’s heritage while fostering understanding and respect for its diverse cultural expressions.
