This is an essential, deeply moving, and solemn visit to honor the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

A poignant and quick stop at Camp Kigali to honor the 10 Belgian UN soldiers killed at the start of the 1994 Genocide.

Have dinner in the Kigali Central Business District (CBD) or Kiyovu neighborhood. Conclude your day with a walk through the Kigali Car-Free Zone to see the modern side of the city.

 Day 2: Local Culture, Commerce, and Scenic Views

Day 2 shifts focus to the vibrant local culture, traditional markets, and natural scenery of Nyarugenge.

Morning: Nyamirambo Walking Tour

Start your day in “Kigali’s coolest neighborhood.” You can often book a guided walk through the Nyamirambo Women’s Center (NWC) to explore local life, the Green Mosque, street art, and market activity.

Lunch: Street Food/Local Lunch in Nyamirambo

Enjoy the fantastic local food scene in Nyamirambo, known for great snacks like chapati, samosas, and hearty local meals.

Afternoon: Caplaki Craft Village

Visit this bustling market to shop for authentic Rwandan souvenirs, arts, and crafts, including agaseke (traditional baskets), carvings, and colorful kitenge fabric. This is a great place to bargain!

Late Afternoon: Mount Kigali Hike/Viewpoint

Take a short drive/moto-taxi up to Mount Kigali. The summit offers stunning panoramic views of the city, especially beautiful as the sun begins to set. You can also visit Fazenda Sengha here for optional recreational activities.

Evening: Dinner with a View

Conclude your tour with dinner at a restaurant near Mount Kigali or a rooftop spot in Kiyovu, allowing you to enjoy the spectacular view of the city lights across the hills.
